Your Name You have to commend the writing of the creator. I had two “what is going on” instances at different times in the movie.  At one point I thought it was going to be a teen romance story, and then when it started to gear towards being what seemed like a coming-of-age story, it forms into a fantasy mirroring real events one would see in a disaster movie. At its core is a romance between these two high school-aged characters, which are very easily relatable. At the end, after having rooted for them, you’d just want for them to resolve. The rules of the created world in “Your Name” are never explained.  How the two lead characters were able to switch to another, and what the limits would be; and how they were able to remember and what caused forgetting the memories? The title being the main message; Ryan Holiday tells stories of successes and failures by prominent individuals of history and from the recent period; and how everyone is susceptible to the pangs of Ego. When not careful, the same drives that sets us out to attain our successes can easily be the same mechanism that causes us to crash. The book is divided into three parts; Aspire, Success and Failure. As it is with any human endeavour, we have always strived for better. Still, It takes a conscious mind to be able to catch one’s self when the sails are steering away from what truly matters. In times when we aspire for better, it is of great character to be humble and learn. Once we’ve had our successes, the way to stumble is to be disrespectful and to believe our own hype. It tells the story of Siddharta, a young man born out of a rich caste, who then decides to be an ascetic, and then meets briefly, Gotama. After which, he goes his way and meets Kamala; whom he perishes under the pleasures of the flesh; and Kawamasmi, where he learns the ways of rich. After realization that he had become what he didn’t sought out to be, he finds himself lost and disillusioned. After passing out by a river; he finds himself back, enlightened. He then spends time with the ferryman by the river, and he meets Kamala again with their son. Only to be left right away, as she is bit a black snake. He then soon finds out that his son is not accustomed with his current ways and they drift apart. He watches as the ferryman succumbs to death and his son leaves him. He then meets his old friend, Govinda, where they speak about the thoughts they have come to learn through out the time. It is one linear story spanning years and decades. Robert Cialdini first released a book titled,   Influence , in 1984. Thirty years later, he releases this one,   Pre-Suasion .   Influence   is probably one of the most quoted books by other authors in the same industry. After some time, I bet his work will continue to be quoted and used in marketing programs, sales presentations, business meetings and conferences around the world. While Influence tackled on the tools employed by compliance professionals, Pre-Suasion takes on the moment before the actual weapons are deployed. It's stated very early on that messages, concepts, made or presented just before a request is made has an impact to the likelihood of the how the message will be received and acted upon. Then it goes on to dissect how and why those factors affect the outcome.
